LUCID BODY

The Lucid Body is a dynamic psychophysical process that gives actors and non-actors a tangible process to break habits, embody given circumstances, deepen physical listening, and cultivate greater presence.

Rooted in the integration of body and psyche, it begins with practical awareness of the individual’s habitual patterns, allowing these to be recognised, released, and reshaped into new layers of authenticity.

Through its engagement with archetypes, Jungian psychology, and a range of somatic practices including yoga and modern dance, the Lucid Body offers actors a comprehensive framework for character embodiment. For the non-actor, the technique can be used to increase physical awareness, emotional intelligence, and confidence in communication. It supports clearer self-expression, a stronger sense of personal presence, and a deeper connection between thought, emotion, and action. The skills learnt in the Lucid Body classroom can be applied to everyday life, leadership, and creative collaboration.

The Lucid Body is taught at leading institutions including The Juilliard School, Yale School of Drama, and NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts, and is used by award-winning actors such as Lupita Nyong’o to prepare for demanding roles. It is designed for the actor who seeks greater physical truth, drawing on impulses, history, and emotional architecture that already live in the body, rather than putting on a mask as something separate from themselves.
